You can now run Windows 10 desktop on Samsung’s latest flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S8, the S8+ and the Note 8 far more easily than before.

While the service was available when the Galaxy S8 and its docking station, DeX, launched earlier this year, this time around Ingram Micro, the world’s largest distributor of technology products, has teamed up with Samsung and Amazon to deliver a simplified solution that allows Samsung DeX customers to access a full Windows Desktop from their mobile devices.

Ingram Micro Cloud’s solution automates the setup of Amazon WorkSpaces and Microsoft Windows Desktop as a Service (DaaS) for the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ and DeX prosumers so that they can set up and run a virtual desktop on their smartphones in just a few easy steps.

By using the Samsung DeX Station, Galaxy Note 8 and S8/S8+ users can connect to any type of display with an HDMI port and use a mouse and keyboard to obtain a full desktop experience right from their smartphone.

Surprising tie-up with AWS

It’s worth noting that Amazon Web Services rather than Microsoft’s very own Azure provides with that solution, another indication perhaps, that after the recent Cortana and Alexa, Amazon and Microsoft are warming up to each other despite their rivalry in cloud computing.

When Samsung Dex is combined with Amazon Workspaces, users can have access to a full desktop experience complete with their own Microsoft Windows virtual desktop that allows them to use all of their files and applications.

This is the first mobile device-based Windows cloud DaaS being offered directly to Samsung DeX customers and now students, freelancers and entrepreneurs can access a full Windows-based desktop directly from their Samsung DeX station and smartphones.

A 30-day free trial of Amazon Workspaces will be available to all Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and Galaxy S8/S8+ users in Australia, Belgium, Canada, France, Netherlands, New Zealand, the US and the UK so that they can try it out for themselves.

The offer can only be accessed through the Windows Desktop Free Trial DeX App on the Samsung Galaxy App Store.

Even so, it appears that some customers who placed pre-orders at Sprint and Verizon will be getting their Galaxy Note 8 handsets much earlier than expected. Although the phone isn’t supposed to ship until about two weeks from now, many customers received shipping notifications informing them that their phones have already been shipped and will arrive next week.

A screenshot posted by a Verizon customer shows that the phone was shipped on September 2 and it should arrive on the 4th. Also, some Sprint customers have taken it to Reddit to confirm they have received shipping notifications from the carrier saying their phones will arrive on September 5 or slightly later.

It’s highly unlikely that everyone who pre-ordered the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 from either of the two carriers will receive their phablets two weeks earlier than expected, but at least some of them will.

T-Mobile Galaxy Note 8 BOGO deal is now live

T-Mobile Galaxy Note 8 BOGO deal is now live
[ad_1]

T-Mobile today launched a new promotion that you may want to check out.

Starting today, September 1st, you can buy a Samsung Galaxy Note 8 from T-Mobile and get a second Galaxy Note 8 for free. You can also get a free Galaxy S8 or S8+ instead of a Note 8 if you’d like.

To take advantage of this deal, you’ll need to be on a T-Mobile One or Simple Choice Unlimited rate plan. You’ll then buy one Galaxy Note 8 on EIP, add a line, and get a second Note 8 on EIP on that new line. You’ll then go to T-Mo’s Promotions Center and enter the promo code 17CSAMN8BOGO and T-Mobile will give you a prepaid MasterCard card to cover the cost of your second phone.

T-Mobile’s EIP pricing for the Galaxy Note 8 is set at $210 down and $30 per month for 24 months.

Another detail worth mentioning is that T-Mobile customers that’ve already pre-ordered the Note 8 can retroactively take advantage of this offer.

Not everyone is going to be able to add a new line to their account to take advantage of this offer, but if you can, T-Mobile’s Note 8 BOGO deal is worth considering. The Note 8 is one of the most high-end and priciest smartphones on the market right now, but T-Mobile will give you one for free if you add a line. This deal is only available for a limited time, though, so if you’re on the fence, you may want to act sooner rather than later.

Galaxy Note 8 to hit the shelves in India sooner than expected

Galaxy Note 8 to hit the shelves in India sooner than expected

A report has surfaced claiming that Samsung will launch the Galaxy Note 8 in India on September 25, where it will carry a price tag of INR 69,900 ($1,077)—but seeing as the firm is still yet to announce any information surrounding pricing and availability in the region, the information should be taken with a hefty pinch of salt.

To encourage consumers to splash an eye-watering amount of money on its latest smartphone, Samsung has drawn up some incentives; those who pre-order a unit in India will receive a complimentary Convertible Wireless Charger, while customers in Europe will be eligible for a free DeX dock (they’ll need to claim it).

As usual, the United States has the best offer. Folks can choose between either a Gear 360 (2017) VR camera—which retails for $229—or a bundle containing a 128GB microSD card and a Convertible Wireless Charger. Samsung is also throwing in a 60-day taster subscription to its premium in-home support service.

The Galaxy Note 8 may not be the success Samsung is expecting

There’s no denying the fact that the stylus-toting Galaxy Note 8 is a fantastic smartphone with its 6.3-inch Infinity Display and Snapdragon 835 processor, but a smaller battery and a less ergonomic build has resulted in a number of loyal Galaxy Note fans gravitating towards the near-identical Galaxy S8 Plus.

Stay tuned for our full review to find out exactly what we think of the handset.

For any Aussies who’re looking to pre-order Samsung’s just-announced , eBay has one helluva bargain going on right now. A coupon code knocks a neat 20% off the yet-to-be released handset, reducing the price down from $1,499 to just $1,199.20.

To get the discount, you’ll need to head to and enter the coupon code PRESENT at the checkout. You’d better hurry though, as the sale ends August 30 or when stock runs out.

This handset doesn’t appear to be a grey-import either, so it should play nice with all major Australian networks too; in the product description, BuyMobileAU specifically states that the handset is “”.
